MY NAME IS JESSICA WHELAN
I AM A FREELANCE DESIGNER
AND AVID ADVENTURIST.

I am a graphic designer and tiny home designer hailing from Haida Gwaii, a rainy little island off the coast of northern British Columbia. I have been working in design and photography for over 15 years for companies ranging from luxury treehouse rentals to top tourism companies to the RCMP, specializing in design and photography work with outdoors or environmentally based companies and First Nations groups. With a post-secondary background in environmental engineering and graphic design, I am passionate about minimal and sustainable living and well-versed in all things design. When I’m not working, I’m out enjoying my greatest loves: rain, wine, wind, coffee, and looking at the stars with my husband, border collie, and chocolate lab.

I love being in nature and I have a particular soft spot for exploring mountains and isolated forest trails. My enthusiasm for the outdoors is reflected in my work, and I strive to help share that excitement with other people through my design. My extensive photography background and library of natural-based photography that I bring to a project is a huge asset for working on websites and posters with companies that are involved in the outdoors, and my history of living and working on Haida Gwaii provided me with a wide range of cultural photography, design, and knowledge.

I also run a business with my husband Patrick designing and building custom high-quality tiny homes on Vancouver Island. Take a look our company, Rewild Homes Ltd, for a great example of what I am capable of. Patrick and I built this company from the ground up and we continually manage and produce all advertisements, digital content, photography, PR, administration, copywriting, and so on, as well as manage all social media outlets. All of the digital and print material associated with Rewild Homes is an excellent example of the strength and breadth of my work.
